OM SYSTEM OM-5 Mirrorless Camera Overview

The OM System OM-5 is an extremely compact, lightweight but durable camera, just like the Olympus E-M5 Mark III before it.Created for your imaging journeys, throw this powerful and versatile camera in your bag, or hang it on your shoulder and wait till inspiration strikes.

LIKE YOUR FAVORITE PAIR OF BOOTS.

The OM-5 is not here to be flashy, steal the show, be in the way of your experience or even try to be the sole reason for your adventure. It is rather like your favourite pair of boots that lead you onto trails unknown; that bag that always has what you need or that friend that helps you see the world in a beautifully different way.

LESS HEFT = MORE FUN.

The OM-5 is designed to stay with you but not get in the way of your experience. It is so compact that you can chuck it in your favourite bag or let it dangle unnoticeably on your shoulder until inspiration strikes. It will be ready for your story but won’t be a tiresome load.

EMBRACE SURPRISES WITH WEATHER SEALING.

The best stories happen through mishaps. It’s time to embrace those moments: the OM-5 features class-leading IP53 dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof design so you can keep telling that story, like your favourite pair of boots that just keep on going.

NEVER GET SHAKEN UP AGAIN WITH 5-AXIS IS.

The OM-5 can stabilize the shakiest of situations with up to 6.5 steps of compensation (or 7.5 with compatible Sync-IS lenses). That makes longer handheld exposures and blur-free telephoto pictures a walk in the park.

FORGET FILTERS— GET IN THE CREATIVE FLOW WITH LIVEND.

Make the most of moving subjects by changing how you see motion with LiveND. With up to four steps of effect (ND16), you can transform what seems like a seemingly mundane moment into a magical one — even with the widest of lenses.

GET THAT DUST OFF YOUR SENSOR WITH SUPERSONIC WAVE FILTER.

Worry-free lens changes on your adventures. The OM-5 features a Supersonic Wave Filter (SSWF), which vibrates over 30,000 times per second to instantly remove dust from the surface of the image sensor.

NEVER MISS THE MOMENT. 121 POINT PDAF AUTOFOCUS.

Focus on the moment, not the focus. The OM-5 features a 121-point All Cross-type On-chip Phase Detection AF sensor to enable dependable focusing in all situations and for all your scenes. Capture the majesty of wildlife with ease and use large aperture lenses with confidence, knowing the story you captured will be in clear focus.

BIG ON DEMAND. HANDHELD HI-RES.

Some scenes have so much to say that to do a moment justice, you need to go big. With the OM-5, you can go big on pictures without having to go big on the size of your gear
Handheld Hi-Res lets you capture amazing 50MP files without lugging around a heavier camera and tripod.

DON’T JUST DREAM THE NIGHT AWAY. CAPTURE IT WITH STARRY SKY AF.

No more guesswork or complicated manual focusing when capturing the night sky. Starry Sky AF makes astrophotography accessible through a dedicated night sky auto-focusing mode. Combine it with other computational photography features like Live Composite and a galaxy of possibilities is just a click away!

A DEVICE OF DISCOVERY.

Technology is only useful if we use it. The OM-5 has everything you need and nothing you don’t.
While the technology within the camera is impressive, the really exciting part is when it comes together through computational photography and other features. Here are the highlights.

LIVE COMPOSITE.

Make the darker hours your ally with Live Composite. Effortlessly enter a whole new world of long exposure photography with this computational photography feature. No more accidental over-exposure or guesswork. See light come alive on the screen of your OM-5 and enjoy anything from star trails to magic hour light painting.

HDR.

Capture the full dynamic range of a scene quickly or go beyond your eyes’ natural ability with composite HDR pictures. With multiple levels of effect to choose from, the OM-5 can bracket from 3 to 5 images with varying exposures. It can even process 4 images together in selectable HDR modes.

COLOR CREATOR.

Get creative with the Color Creator feature that lets you freely control any scene’s hue and colour saturation to maximize its storytelling impact. Choose which part of the scene you want to highlight, from breathtaking oranges in sunsets to the lush greens of the jungle.

ART FILTER.

Explore the world around you through 16 distinct Art Filters. From classic black and white film-style emulations to soft-focus artistic exploration, there’s more than enough to keep you exploring the world in a new way right through the screen or EVF of your OM-5.

FOCUS STACKING.

Get as close as you want without having to stop down your aperture to keep everything sharp. Choose how deep you want the focus to be and let the camera do the work of combining the images. Whether you’re doing extreme macro or low light landscapes, this feature allows you to maximize your depth of field without resorting to higher ISOs or F-values.

AF TARGET MODES.

From the need to pinpoint focus on details to fast snaps of moving wildlife, there are six different types of AF target modes to ensure you never miss your moment. Whether you’re a fan of the traditional single-point focusing method or want to create custom AF patterns for a specific purpose, there’s a mode to meet the need.

PRO CAPTURE.

The OM-5 is your personal time machine. Photographing fleeting moments and capturing impossibly fast action is made easy with Pro Capture. Designed to ensure you never miss the decisive moment, Pro Capture continuously adds images to its buffer memory at a maximum of 30 frames per second and at the press of a button, retains the last 14 frames after fully pressing the shutter button. Then simply scroll back like a time machine and pick the perfect moment.

VENTURE DEEPER.

No camera can tell the story for you but the right bit of kit in the right situation can make all the difference in getting the shot or coming home empty-handed. But remember — sometimes missing the shot is just the thing you need to be able to make the most of the moment. The choice is yours.

4K30

Capture stunning views with a 4K 30p video codec that is easy on the memory card but does not compromise on quality and detail.

VERTICAL VIDEO

Capture your stories the way you want to show them. Vertical videos means easy editing and easy sharing on mobile platforms.

OM-LOG400

Capture the full range of nature’s beauty with a filmmaking-specific colourgrading-friendly picture profile.
