Canon EOS R5 Overview
For the professional image-maker who needs resolution, speed, and video capabilities, there is the Canon EOS R5. Setting a new standard for versatility, this full-frame mirrorless camera features a newly developed 45MP CMOS sensor, which offers 8K raw video recording, 12 fps continuous shooting with a mechanical shutter, and is the first EOS camera to feature 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization.
See detail like never before
A next-generation 45 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor captures incredible clarity, low noise and wide dynamic range: the perfect partner for our advanced RF lenses.
Full-frame 45 megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processor
For sensational clarity and detail whatever you’re shooting – even in bad light up to ISO 51,200.
Introducing Portrait Relighting and Background Clarity
Use Dual Pixel RAW to adjust lighting on your subject’s faces, or to apply clarity to only the background when shooting landscapes.
Stay sharp, stay focused
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II is lightning-fast to focus and boasts 5940 AF selectable positions, covering virtually 100% of the frame. Fast-moving subjects are kept sharp, even when moving quickly and unpredictably, while Face/Eye detection is superb for shallow-depth-of-field portraits.
Ground-breaking intelligent AF
The camera’s autofocus is programmed using a deep-learning AI – first developed for our ground-breaking EOS-1D X Mark III. This enables the EOS R5 to recognise and track a subject’s face and eyes with new levels of accuracy and precision, even when viewed from the side. This tracking ability is also available when photographing dogs, cats and birds, as well as motor vehicles – a first for EOS cameras.
Ultimate speed, ultimate quality. Game-changing performance that will take your creativity to new heights.
Few cameras comes close to the EOS R5. Capture 45 megapixel, full-frame images at a staggering 20fps in complete silence and with full autofocus tracking. And, for situations that need it, a mechanical shutter is also available, allowing class-leading shooting speeds up to 12fps.
Setting new standards for filmmakers… all over again
As the pioneers of DSLR video, and the developers of the acclaimed Cinema EOS range of cameras and lenses, we designed the EOS R5 to be the ultimate hybrid stills and video camera – with some formidable filmmaking capabilities.
Capture superb 12-bit RAW video internally at 8K, or record 4K (4:2:2 10-bit) at frame rates up to 120p for exceptional slow-motion effects. All this using the full-width of the camera’s full-frame sensor for a truly cinematic look. Dual Pixel CMOS AF II with Face/Eye Detection keeps things looking sharp and allows impressive pull-focus transitions in all video modes.
And for hybrid shooters whose priority is filmmaking, we’ve also developed the EOS R5 C, which takes filmmaking capabilities to the next level.
Advanced wireless that will transform the way you work
The EOS R5 uses an always-on Bluetooth Low Energy connection to maintain a continuous link with a smart device. Simply launch the Canon Camera Connect app and the camera establishes a fast Wi-Fi connection that enables photographers to browse, review and transfer images, as well as shoot remotely.
